ESTERVILLE and EMMETSBURG, Iowa — Are your fields too wet to plant? Do you have standing water in your fields? Do you feel you are way behind in fieldwork? Wondering how crop insurance will work if you can’t get a crop in the ground? Then maybe you should consider attending a Delayed Planting Meeting put on by Emmet, Palo Alto and Kossuth County Extension Offices.
Palo Alto, Emmet and Kossuth counties are holding Delayed Planting workshops to help farmer’s understand their options with all this rain that we have had and very few crops planted. These workshops will take place on Tuesday May29th and Wednesday, May 30th. Paul Kassel, Field Agronomist will address how delayed planting effects crop variety, maturity, and re-planting. Questions related to crop insurance and FSA policies will also be addressed.
On Tuesday May 29, 2018 you can attend a workshop in Estherville at the VFW Hall 314 S 1st Street Estherville, IA starting at 9 am. You can attend one in Emmetsburg at the Palo Alto County Extension Office starting at 1pm. This meeting will be held in the basement meeting room. Presenting at these meetings will the Paul Kassel, Field Agronomist for ISU Extension and Outreach, Gary Wright Farm Management Specialist, Nicole Tifft Crop Insurance Agent with Cornerstone Insurance, and Lisa Forburger with FSA.
On May 30, 2018 Kossuth County Office will be holding Delayed Planting meetings. Presenting at this meeting will be Paul Kassel, Field Agronomist, Nicole Tifft Crop Insurance Agent with Cornerstone Insurance and Angie Christian, FSA office.
The first meeting will be at 9am at Water’s Edge Nature Center (North of Algona) 1010 250th St. Algona, IA and the second meeting will be Bancroft Summit Center 304 S. Summit St. Bancroft, IA starting at 1pm.
