UNITY, Maine — MOFGA Certification Services (MCS) is pleased to announce that producers still have time to seek organic certification for the 2019 crop year. Applications are accepted through June 30 for crops and most livestock producers. In addition, applications for MOFGA-certified clean cannabis (MC3) are also being accepted through June 30. Interested producers can find forms, materials and resources at www.mofgacertification.
Interest and growth in organic certification continues to increase statewide. MCS saw 76 percent growth in certified operations from 2012 to 2017 and currently certifies over 83,000 acres as organic. In total, MCS producers reported gross income that exceeded $78 million during 2018. A searchable list of MOFGA-certified organic producers appears here.
