WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Transition in dairy farming can be a lot of different things. It can be a generational transition that involves succession planning, it can mean introducing process improvements to improve profitability and cash flow, or it can be changing the focus of farm production to adapt to the changing environment. An unusually long period of low milk prices has brought a lot of us to the point of having to make some big decisions, and it’s important to be sure to go through a strong decision making process, and to know what resources are available to help you through.
The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis and Jefferson Counties, together with the ProDairy Program, are committed to helping our dairy farms and will be holding a workshop called “Dairy Transitions: Decision-Making Through Tough Times” on December 6th in Lewis County, and December 7th in Jefferson County, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. There is no cost to participate and Lunch will be provided, courtesy of the ProDairy Program.
