SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Dairy farmers and the dairy industry will take center stage at the upcoming New York and Maryland state fairs through several American Dairy Association North East activities and events.
“Dairy will be on full display during the state fairs to help the hundreds of thousands of consumers make a positive connection to our farmers and industry,” said ADA North East CEO John Chrisman. “And thanks to the iconic butter sculpture and celebrity milkshake contests, we anticipate major media attention to further expand our reach and to build more trust in dairy.”
Dairy checkoff events and activities will include:
New York State Fair – August 24-September 5, Syracuse, N.Y.
- 54th annual butter sculpture unveiling on August 23, at 9:30 a.m. – live viewing on American Dairy Association North East’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AmericanDairyNE/
- Dairy Products Building activities all 13 days – “Reset Yourself with Dairy” photo booth geared toward families and the Gen Z audience, along with dairy recipe giveaways
- Dairy Day on September 1 – dairy industry breakfast followed by the Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off celebrity milkshake contest at the Chevy Court
- Sponsorship of televisions in the milking parlor that feature “This American Dairy Farmer” and “Cow to Cup” videos
- New York state and county dairy ambassadors onsite for media interviews and interaction with fair-goers
Maryland State Fair – August 25-28, September 1-5, and September 8-11
- Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off celebrity milkshake contest – September 2, at 10 a.m.
- U-Learn Farm featuring a dairy station near the Cow Palace featuring “Susan,” the life-sized model cow for photo opportunities, along with educational dairy giveaways
- Maryland state and county dairy princess participation for media interviews and consumer education
