SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. — Hello, I am Holly Harvatine a Susquehanna County Dairy Ambassador. As you all know the Covid 19 pandemic has taken a toll on many people in many ways. Here in Susquehanna County the Dairy Promotion Court has been working in different communities to help make sure families get their “Three Every Day” servings of dairy products. For several months one way the Dairy Promotion Court helped was donating milk to local food banks/pantries.
At the Mountain View School, there is a Children’s Produce Market. The food and other necessities are provided by the Weinberg Food Bank. Recently Dairy Ambassador Chelsea Empet and I had the opportunity to help package the food for pickup as we are part of the Mountain View National Junior Honor Society. Among the many items packaged, we were delighted to see a “Dairy Box” in the mix! The box contained cheese, yogurt, cream cheese, butter, and milk. It is very exciting to see these products being distributed to families to make sure they are able to get the nutrients dairy has to offer!
Even during tough times dairy products are an important part of your diet, whether it be a glass of chocolate milk after a workout, a yogurt parfait, a slice of cheese on a sandwich or an at home ice cream sundae!
As part of the New Year I’m reminding everyone to include dairy products each day in your meals. Stay happy and healthy during this New Year, and don’t forget to get your “3 Every Day” servings of dairy, MILK, CHEESE or YOGURT.
