Dairy MAX sponsoring ninth annual Passion for Pints blood drive

Dairy farmers give back to communities through needed blood donations

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — For the ninth consecutive year, Dairy MAX is hosting “Passion for Pints” blood drives in celebration of National Dairy Month. The drives, hosted in partnership with five local blood centers throughout the Dairy MAX eight-state region, reinforce the longstanding commitment dairy farmers have to their local communities.

Summer months bring an increased need for blood donations which also saw a significant decrease during the pandemic. One donation can save up to three lives, and since 2013 Passion for Pints has impacted more than 230,000 lives with over 77,000 units of blood donated.

“The commitment of dairy farmers is year-round, but during National Dairy Month we recognize all that they contribute both on and off the farm,” said John Cass, Dairy MAX director of industry image and relations. “Passion for Pints is one way we honor all that dairy farmers bring to the table while giving back.”

Blood donors will receive dairy giveaway items including a commemorative t-shirt, stress-relief cow squeeze toy, recipe book featuring delicious dairy recipes and at select locations dairy products for post-blood donation recovery. As Dairy MAX and its blood center partners approach a total of 2,000 completed blood drives over the past nine years, dairy farmers remain passionate about giving back to the communities they call home.

“My family and I are passionate about giving back beyond the work we do to produce dairy foods,” said dairy farmer Tom Alger. “Our community isn’t just our livelihood, it’s our home and we are committed to making an impact here for generations to come.”

Celebrating National Dairy Month by giving back to communities who support the dairy industry is a gesture that dairy farmers find rewarding and worth doing year after year.
