WELLSBORO, Pa. — The USDA Dairy Margin Coverage program will be available to dairy producers beginning June 2019. The DMC program is a voluntary risk management program that replaces the previous Margin Protection Program for Dairy.
DMC continues to offer protection to dairy producers when the difference between the all milk price and the average feed price (the margin) falls below a certain dollar amount selected by the producer. Dairy farmers that produce and commercially market milk from cows located in the United States are eligible to participate in this program.
Craig Williams, Penn State Dairy Educator, will host a series of webinars to educate dairy producers about the latest information on the DMC program. Each webinar will cover the basics of the DMC program, review the DMC decision tool, and answer producer questions. We will discuss the year to year option as compared to the five year choice. We will review the FSA DMC decision tool. Specific questions can be sent to J. Craig Williams at jcw17@psu.edu.
Webinars will be held May 31, June 14 and June 28 from noon to 1 p.m. Individuals can participate from their home or office by logging into https://psu.zoom.us/j/855782275.
Join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android at Penn State Zoom or dial 646-876-9923.
These programs are open to others who want to host them, as a group. Some Extension offices in Pennsylvania are hosting these workshops for those without reliable internet service.

These will be recorded.
