CARLISLE, Pa. — Penn State Extension and Cumberland County 4-H celebrated the accomplishments of the 2021-22 program year with an Achievement Night banquet on October 10, 2022, held at McCulloch’s Highland Vue Farms in Newville.
PA Representative Greg Rothman, and Cumberland County Commissioners Jean Foschi and Vince DiFilippo were in attendance to speak to the members and present special awards. A keynote message was shared by Alexandria Neff, PA 4-H State Council Member.
All members received a certificate and pin recognizing their years of membership. Volunteers were also recognized for their years of service. Special anniversary volunteers receiving pins were: 1 year of service- Michelle Bear, Stacey Gatch, and Jennifer Klinger; 5 years of service- Robert Krausse, Rachel McKee, Rachel Seeley, Emilie Snyder, and Melissa Umbrell; 10 years of service- Meg Feaser, Angie Grove, and Todd Umbrell; 15 years of service- Kelli Derr; and 45 years of service, Janet Holston.
The Cumberland County 4-H Spirit award, honoring an individual or business that made significant contributions to 4-H, was awarded to Terry Shetron, of Shetron Manufacturing Custom Built Trailers. Meg Feaser was the recipient of the Gladys Holtry Award, given to a volunteer that exemplifies commitment to leadership.
The “I Dare You Award,” which encourages young people to reach their highest potential, was given to Delaney Barrick. Recognizing a member with a love of nature, family, and adventure, the Jane Gregory Memorial Award was awarded to Rebecca Cohick.
The Cumberland County 4-H Clover Club of the Year was the Horse and Pony Club. The 4-H Goat Club was named second place Cumberland County Clover Club. Outstanding officers were also recognized. These included: President, Clayton Hetrick; Vice President, Jacob Wickard; Secretary, Abby Rosenberry; Treasurer, Julianna Yingling; Reporter, Alyvia McBride; Social Chair, Sydney Arena and Aubree Boyd; Historian, Elyssa Gilbert and Orie Wickard.
