LINCOLN — Colorado Corn Administrative Committee is proud to sponsor the University of Colorado-Denver’s 2018-2019 Lynx Motorsports race team. These students are predominately Mechanical Engineering majors, and will be competing in an International Formula SAE race in Lincoln, Nebraska starting on June 20th with a race car that runs on E85 (70-85% ethanol) alternative fuel.
Lynx Motorsports is one of two teams from Colorado; the other is from Colorado School of Mines. The Formula SAE Competition awards points to teams in various events. At the end of the competition the team with the most points wins. Lynx motorsports will be running their car on E85 for the second straight year because they were pleased with the horsepower of this high octane fuel especially with the mandatory intake air restrictor.
When asked about competing next week, Robert Wiley, the Team Captain, said “We are excited to compete in this race because of the immense challenges we have had to overcome in order to get the car ready. The race allows us to put or engineering skills to the ultimate test and it is a wonderful feeling to see something you have put countless hours into actually performing on the track. The atmosphere at competition is incredible.”
