FARGO, N.D. — The North Dakota State University Extension Service’s 2017 Western Crop and Pest Management School will take place March 7-8 in Dickinson at the Ramada Grand Dakota.
The school is designed for individuals who will be scouting crops for pest and production problems in 2017. The program has multiple components to teach the basics in weed, disease and insect identification, and scouting procedures, plus hands-on sessions devoted to important pest and production issues for major crops in the region.
Speakers will cover topics ranging from cover crops and crop rotations to weed identification.
“The program will cover a wide range of agronomic issues pertinent to western North Dakota,” said Ryan Buetow, NDSU Extension area specialist in cropping systems. “It also will cover topics that are becoming more relevant each year, such as herbicide resistance and soybean production.”
Eleven continuing education units (CEU) will be available for the Certified Crop Advisers program.
The deadline to register is March 1.
