AMES, Iowa — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host its annual Crop Advantage Series on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the Le Mars Convention Center beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Crop Advantage Series provides a solid foundation of current, research-based crop production information to help make decisions for the farming operation in 2019. The meeting is an opportunity for farmers and crop advisers to hear current research and crop production information from Iowa State University and also offers continuing education credits for Certified Crop Advisers (CCA) and pesticide safety recertification.
The program will feature “Profitable Use of Weather Data,” presented by Elwynn Taylor, Retired Extension Climatologist, and “2019 Ag Outlook: It’s stressful. How can we deal with it?” presented by Chad Hart, Extension Ag Economist, and Lori Hayungs, Family Life Specialist.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to choose to attend one program during each of the following sessions:
- Session A: Emerging Iowa Pests; Herbicides and Weed Control; or Long-Term Tillage and Crop Rotation Effects on Carbon, Yield and Economics.
- Session B: Drainage Issues in Northwest Iowa; Lean and Mean Crop Production for 2019; or Potassium Effects on Crop Yield, Corn Response to Nitrogen and Soybean Diseases.
- Session C: 2018 Northwest Iowa On-Farm and Research Farm Results; Nitrogen Management in Variable Environments; or Tariffs: Past, Present and Future.
Participants can also attend Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction to receive recertification credits at the end of the day.
