The New York Farm Viability Institute (NYFVI) is pleased to announce that its annual Request for Proposals (RFP) is now underway. The organization is seeking proposals that will create the knowledge that farmers need to continue to evolve their operations and ensure they are sustainable well into the future.
While not required, the RFP continues to encourage collaboration by accepting paired proposals that focus on a single topic with multi-disciplinary work. This approach allows for multi-organizational teams to access more resources. Past examples can be found here.
New York farmers will evaluate each proposal on: Producer Involvement; Relevance to NY Agriculture; Work Plan; Outreach Plan; Evaluation Plan, Budget, and Project Team.
Proposals are due by September 25, 2022. Funded projects will be notified in February 2023.
Eligibility and Online Application:
Eligible grant applicants include farmer groups, researchers, educators, organizations, agencies, and businesses. Applicants may represent non-profit or for-profit sectors. NYFVI encourages individuals with ideas to partner with existing organizations to ensure project viability and execution.
Proposals between $15,000 and $125,000 will be accepted. Work must be executed within a 24-month timeframe. The full RFP is available at nyfvi.org.
Note: credentials are required to access the system and may take two business days to be established. Apply for credentials here.
Proposal Development Webinar
Informational webinars about the grant program will be held on Tuesday, August 9th at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 11 at 1:30 pm, and Wednesday, August 17 at 6:00 pm. Registration is required and can be completed here.
About Us
The New York Farm Viability Institute is a nonprofit grantmaking organization. We fund a competitive program seeking work that will create and share knowledge that will improve the economic viability of New York’s farmers. We are funded by an appropriation from the State of New York. We know that the State shares our mission, and we are appreciative of the trust and confidence the Governor and legislature have placed in the organization.
Approximately 100 farmers support the organization by reviewing proposals that are relevant to their business. If you would like to get involved as a reviewer, please email Dave Grusenmeyer at dgrusenmeyer@nyfvi.org
