COW CAMP 101: Back to the Basics

Will be held April 19, at 6 p.m. at Annex at Franklin County Agricultural Center

The last session, Session #5, of the COW CAMP 101: Back to the Basics will be Tuesday evening, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the Annex at the Franklin County Agricultural Center, 103 South Bickett Blvd, Louisburg. The meeting will begin with a beef meal followed by the program. "Reproduction, Calving, and Mineral/Hoof Management" will be the topic of discussion. LOUISBURG, N.C. — The last session, Session #5, of the COW CAMP 101: Back to the Basics will be Tuesday evening, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the Annex at the Franklin County Agricultural Center, 103 South Bickett Blvd, Louisburg. The meeting will begin with a beef meal followed by the program. “Reproduction, Calving, and Mineral/Hoof Management” will be the topic of discussion. Guest speaker will be Dr. Dan Poole, NCSU Animal Science Professor, on beef cattle reproduction along with a demonstration on how to deliver a calf properly (also with dealing with calving dystocia.) Ag Agents, Paul Gonzalez (Sampson County) and Martha Mobley (Franklin County) will discuss minerals and hoof management. Shauna Somerville, ABS representative, will be present to discuss their new bull offerings (semen).

The last program of the season will be the Tuesday, June 21st, 5-County BEEF Tour of three Franklin County cattle farms, followed by BEEF sponsored lunch, a forage variety test plot, marketing, genetics. Everyone drives their own vehicle to the various sites.
