ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell Small Farms Program team is excited to announce the launch of a new website, designed with a new logo and branding. This update helps farmers and service providers access a wealth of resources on research, extension, and educational projects focused on the sustainability of diverse, thriving small farms.

Established in 2001 as a program of Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), the Cornell Small Farms Program works collaboratively with a network of CALS faculty and staff, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) educators, and other small farm advocates throughout New York.
These partnerships have helped the program offer an increasingly dynamic set of opportunities to engage farmers of all enterprises and experience levels. This has led to the creation of an expansive suite of content to help small farms succeed as viable agricultural businesses.
Over nearly two decades of programming, the Cornell Small Farms Program has continuously innovated to better serve the small farm community. As a result, their content reaches half a million people, with thousands of farmers participating in our online courses, in-person trainings, and other programming each year.
The design of this website makes all of their work and resources more easily accessible, giving farmers even more opportunities to connect, learn and grow. It also allows the program to better serve its mission to help farmers get expert assistance to facilitate all phases of small farm business development, from initial growth to optimization to maturity.
The Cornell Small Farms Program team is also excited to announce the move of their suite of online courses to a new, more user-friendly platform. Now registrants have permanent, year-round access to their course content. The tiered pricing, based on household size and income level, makes access to the courses more equitable.
Registration for online courses opens today, with the first block of courses beginning at the end of September.
The Cornell Small Farms Program offers more than 20 online courses to help farmers improve their technical and business skills. Most courses are six weeks long, and each week features an evening webinar with follow-up readings, videos, and activities. If you aren’t able to attend the webinars in real-time, they are always recorded for later viewing.
