BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Broome County will host Fresh Food Face Off Wednesday, September 28, 5:00-7:30 p.m., 840 Upper Front Street, Binghamton.
By putting a spotlight on the farm fresh ingredients from the Broome County Regional Farmers Market, the Fresh Food Face Off has become a true partnership between local farms, farmers, ag producers, local restaurants and chefs. In essence, the event is a two-way street—benefitting both Broome County farmers and restaurants.
Fresh Food Face Off 2022 will feature some of the area’s best restaurants and chefs, including The Beef, Social on State, Water Street Brewing Co., Lost Dog Café, McCoy’s Chophouse, Remlik’s Grille & Oyster Bar, River Bistro @ DoubleTree by Hilton Binghamton, Pinkie’s Barbecue, Thai Time, Sweetay’s, Red & White Catering, SUNY Broome Culinary Arts and Broome-Tioga BOCES Culinary Arts. Tastings will feature ingredients fresh from the Farmers Market in three categories: chicken, pork and vegetarian.
A wide assortment of area beverage and distilleries will offer tastings at the Fresh Food Face Off, including Kathy, Dave, and Eric’s Flavored Coffee Company, JuUuice Juicery, New Leaf Cider Co., Water Street Brewing Co., Madrona Tasting Room, Awestruck Ciders, Niagara Craft Spirits and Waterman’s Café & Tasting Barn. In addition, there will be “Pour for Donation” and “Wine Grab” stations. Dessert tastings will be prepared by Chroma Café & Bakery and Galway Girl Bakes.
Guests can enjoy all their tastings at tables outside the Farmers Market and on the Taste NY deck overlooking the beautiful Cutler Botanic Garden.
According to Beth Roberts, Executive Director, CCE Broome County, “In addition to the focus on supporting Broome County’s wonderful farms and farmers, the Fresh Food Face Off is our premier
fundraiser of the year. This year, more than ever, we truly value our sponsors’ and the community’s support of our programming through this wonderful event.”
All funds raised through the event go directly to support CCE Broome’s 4-H youth development, agriculture, environment, horticulture, nutrition, parenting and workforce development programs.
Honorary judges will vote on the “Best Chicken,” “Best Pork,” “Best Vegetarian” and “Best Dessert.” Immediately following the event, guests will be able to vote online for the “People’s Choice.” Winning restaurants and chefs covet the honor and recognition these awards bring.
