LOUISBURG, N.C. — The North Carolina Corn Growers Association Inc. will be conducting a referendum on March 14, 2023. North Carolina law declares it to be in the public interest that the farmers engaged in the production of corn may have the opportunity and privilege to act jointly in raising reasonable and necessary funds to promote all phases of marketing, production and use. The producers will vote for or against the collection of 1.25 cents per bushel of corn marketed to be used for programs in marketing, production, research, education and general welfare of corn in NC. The assessment will be in effect for a six-year period beginning with the 2023 crop harvest season and continuing through the 2028 season.
Farmers currently engaged in the production of #2 yellow dent corn intended for livestock feed, including tenants, sharecroppers or other persons sharing in the production income of corn are eligible to vote. The polling place for Franklin County will be the Ag Services Center (103 South Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, NC) on March 14, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
