SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Are you interested in making healthier choices to prevent or manage conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes? This series is for you!
We call it “Med Instead of Meds” because this series is all about simple steps toward eating a Mediterranean-style diet. Long-term scientific studies show those in the Mediterranean region have less incidence of various health conditions. This eating pattern has been written into the American Dietary Guidelines and is backed by research and support of Public Health Professionals, Medical Doctors, and Registered Dietitians.
This series will focus eating more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and using healthier fats in cooking. We will also dive into various cooking techniques, knife skills, and healthier spins to popular dishes we enjoy in North Carolina.
Registration is $30. Fee due by September 25, 2019, at 5 p.m.
