COLUMBUS, Ohio — Pastured Beef and Conservation Easement Farm Tour at Marshy Meadows Farm will take place on Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. at 7490 Noble Rd., Windsor, OH.
Marshy Meadows Farm is an all-grass farm raising USDA certified grass-fed beef on certified organic pastures.
This tour will focus on the challenges of grazing in the Lake Erie snowbelt, where the soils are saturated or snow-covered five months out of the year.
After a walking tour led by Mardy Townsend, you can join a discussion about how beginning farmers can use conservation easements to help purchase farm land, with an opportunity to talk with Alex Czayka, Western Reserve Land Conservancy Eastern Field Director.
The Ashtabula Local Food Council and the new Ashtabula County Community Harvest Food Hub will also be on hand. The food hub can serve as a good marketing option for smaller and beginning farmers.
