FLORAL PARK, N.Y. — During this difficult period of social distancing, Queens County Farm Museum will be showcasing the best of the farm online daily until it can reopen to the public. #barncam will give Queens Farm followers a chance to turnip and tune-in daily at 4:00pm for an insider’s look at Queens Farm. The program is designed to connect people to the farm and to each other.
Content includes a view of the historic site through the farmer’s perspective – from plants & ecology to livestock to NYC history. Since visitors can not walk the site and watch the season unfold, Queens Farm will share that experience online. Seeds are germinating in the greenhouse and fields will be tilled, plowed and planted. Content will also include recipes, craft and cooking tutorials, farm animal videos, photos, how-to’s for being at home and storytime for kids, all of which will be provided remotely by the farm’s talented and creative staff led by Ali Abate, Director of Education and Anne Mastrogiacomo, Director of Agriculture. Together they have twenty years of experience behind them.
#barncam begins Monday, March 23, 2020 at 4:00pm and will continue daily until the farm can reopen to the public. It will be posted on the farm’s Facebook, Instagram & Twitter social media pages.
