JEFFERSON CITY — The annual congressional August recess is upon us. That means members of Congress are back home in your district. Whether it is a town hall, the state fair, local fair, festival or annual farm tours, now is the time to talk directly with your federal representatives. Make sure your elected leaders know these three things: (1) international trade is key to growing corn markets; (2) now is the time to reduce onerous regulations at EPA and other federal agencies; and (3) Congress needs to pass a new farm bill that contains adequate protections for corn growers.
Soon August will be over and elected officials will be back in D.C. Let’s keep agriculture top of mind when they go back to work. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the political process, contact Missouri Corn Director of Public Policy Shane Kinne at (800) 827-4181.
