IOWA FALLS, Iowa — Hardin County ISU Extension & Outreach will offer two confinement site manure applicator workshops on Monday, January 14, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. and on Monday, February 18, from 1:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Both workshops will be held at the Hardin County Extension Office at 524 Lawler Street in Iowa Falls. Confinement site applicators are considered private applicators and do not apply manure for hire. Both workshops will be live presentations by Dr. Kapil Arora, ISU Extension Agriculture Engineering Specialist and Terry Basol, ISU Extension Crop Specialist. Applicators are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes before the workshop start time to complete registration before the session begins.
Iowa law requires confinement site manure applicators to attend two hours of continuing education each year of their three-year certification period or pass an exam once every three years. Attendance at one of these two workshops meets those requirements. The two hour workshop also qualifies new applicators for initial certification without taking an exam. Applicators are encouraged to complete certification requirements prior to March 1 to meet certification deadlines and avoid being assessed a late fee for re-certification.
The workshops are free and pre-registration is not required. For more information, contact Darwin Miller, Hardin County ISU Extension Director, ph. 641-648-4850 or toll free 1-888-648-5005.
