BURLINGTON — Talks on seed saving, composting and building a resilient landscape top the agenda for the annual statewide gardening conference, Nov. 5-6.
Gardening for Resilience: Feeding our Soil, Seeds, Habitats and Communities is open to both experienced and novice gardeners and will take place via Zoom. The cost is $40 for access to the live conference sessions and archived recordings. Financial assistance is available for Vermonters.

Sylvia Davatz, an organic gardener from Hartland and founder of Solstice Seeds, will provide tips for saving seeds and recommendations for seed varieties for Northeast climates. Dan Jaffe Wilder, a horticulturalist with the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary in Monson, Massachusetts, will discuss how to build a resilient landscape.
The program also includes a presentation on soil health and composting by Cat Buxton, a UVM Extension Master Composter from Sharon, and Natasha Duarte, director of the Composting Association of Vermont. Nationally acclaimed novelist and avid gardener Jamaica Kincaid will share how gardening helps sustain the body and soul.
