GREELEY, Colo. — Colorado Corn Administrative Committee President Mike Lefever (pictured right) was in Washington, D.C., last week, where he completed the final phase of the National Corn Growers Association’s Leadership At Its Best Program, while Colorado Corn Growers Association Board Secretary Rod Hahn was also in the capital city, completing NCGA’s Advanced Leadership Program.
Throughout the week, Mike, Rod and their respective groups visited numerous Congressional leaders, with the conversations covering trade, ethanol and other issues. Additionally, the groups got inside looks at parliamentary procedure and how lobbying works on Capitol Hill.
Mike, a Longmont-area farmer, was one of 19 people from across the U.S. who graduated with this Leadership At Its Best class, while Rod, a Yuma County corn producer, was one of five participants in his Advanced Leadership class.
During the entirety of the leadership programs, the groups covered media training, public speaking, business etiquette, meeting management and many other topics.
