MANKATO, Minn. — Do you have or know of a woodland or forest that produces large amounts of seeds or cones? You can sell viable tree seeds to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
If you are interested in collecting tree seeds or cones, contact the MN DNR Forestry office in your area for the quota of seeds they will purchase and collection details. http://z.umn.edu/dnrforestry
The Minnesota State Forest Nursery is interested in buying seeds and cones from the following trees:
- Black spruce
- White spruce
- Jack pine
- Red pine
- Tamarack
- Red oak
- White oak
- Bur oak
- Swamp oak
- Sugar maple
NOTE: Contact the MN DNR Forestry office in your area for the quota of seeds they will purchase. If you are given a quota to collect tree seed from a MN DNR Forestry office you will be given instructions on proper collecting, handling a labeling requirements.
