LAKEWOOD, Colo. — During an audit with the Colo. Dept. of Revenue, a CNGA member was informed that they would need to pay sales tax on fertilizer inputs. The concerned member contacted CNGA and we discovered, per state statute, that fertilizers used at nurseries & greenhouses were considered “specialty fertilizers” and therefore not tax exempt. Since our industry is considered agriculture, and all other agriculture industries are exempt, we took action to fix this issue via HB19-1329, which passed in the State legislature. The fertilizer tax exemption is a big win for members and a great example of what CNGA can do for your business.
