GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Fairgoers will find themselves immersed in a world of acrobatic feats and exotic horses when they attend Cirque Ma’Ceo at the Nebraska State Fair.
Performances will be at 3:30 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4; and 11 a.m., 2 and 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, in the Heartland Events Center. Admission to Cirque Ma’Ceo is free with paid gate admission.
“We wanted to provide a fresh, new experience to our guests, giving them more bang for their buck on Labor Day weekend,” said Karli Schulz, entertainment and events director for the Nebraska State Fair. “We were also excited to blend the agricultural side of the fair with entertainment.”
A theatrical European-style show, Cirque Ma’Ceo blends acrobatics, aerial, dance and equestrian arts with acoustic beats of rich Spanish guitar. From daredevil Cossack riding to the beautiful aerial chandelier, Cirque Ma’Ceo creates a feast for the senses full of beauty, mystery and adventure.
Celebrating a tradition that stems from the golden age of the Roman Empire, Cirque Ma’Ceo features some of the world’s finest equestrian acrobats performing bareback riding, Roman riding and other feats.
Horses featured in the show include Veleno, a Friesian whose breed was once valued for carrying nights into battle; Guido, a Suffolk Punch who is the main star of the bareback act; and Bucco, a miniature stallion with a big personality.
