MONTROSE, Pa. — My name is Emmory Coy and I am in Mr. Wood’s 2nd grade class. I go to the Lathrop Street School in Montrose. I am also a Dairy Maid and like to tell people all about dairy products and how good they are for us to eat like milk, yogurt, cheese and ice cream.
I read my class the book “Chuck’s Ice Cream Wish” written by Viola Butler. In the book Chuck learned how hard the farmer worked to get the milk from the cows to make ice cream. The farmer feeds his cows lots of healthy food like grass and grain, and then the cows are milked. Cow’s milk is where ice cream begins.
While at the barn Chuck had to do his chores and that included washing things up in the milk house, feeding the cows and doing some shoveling in the cow barn.<
Finally after Chuck had all of his chores done the Dairy Godmother showed up to make Chuck’s dairy dream come moo….I mean come true. Chuck got a dish of ice cream with sprinkles on top.
My class and I learned how hard farmers work so all of us can have a yummy dish of ice cream especially now that summer is coming.
