MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — With funding received by the Chobani Community Impact Fund, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County was able to offer a competitive mini-grant fund for producers in Madison County. Ten farms in Madison County have been chosen to participate in four separate workshops around marketing and sales over the months of March and April.
These workshops will include topics such as product placement, labels and posters, customer service, telling your story, social media, and engaging photography. At the end of the four workshops, farmers will be given up to $1,500 on a reimbursable basis to spend on marketing for their operation. This will give these farms the opportunity to invest in marketing that they were unsure or unaware of.
The selected farms include:
Devine Gardens, Dizzy Lizzy, Fruit of the Fungi, Hartwood Farms, Kubecka’s Farmstand, Many Maples, O’Mara Farms, Plumb Rocky Farms, Salt City Harvest, and Sweet Acres Orchard.
The anticipated impact of the mini-grant is an overall increase in sales to each of these operations in 2019. If each farmer has a Return on Investment in their marketing of 5:1, then each can hope to make an additional $7,500 in sales this year. Therefore, the impact of the Chobani Community Impact Fund to our county could estimate near $75,000.
