WEST CHESTER, Pa. — The Chester County 4-H Program would like to invite families interested in outdoor activities to take a hike at Nottingham Park, 150 Park Road, Nottingham, PA. We will be hiking on Wednesday, June 15, and will gather at the main parking lot at 5:30 p.m.
Chester County 4-H Educator, Audrey Reith, and 4-H volunteers will lead the hike. As we trek through one of the park’s trails, we will discover trees and plants common to southeast PA, as well as discuss the habitat that the area provides for wildlife.
Nottingham Park was the first Chester County Park. The 731-acre park sits atop an outcropping of serpentine stone, one of the largest serpentine barrens on the East Coast. It features former feldspar and serpentine quarries, and former chromite ore mines.
Families should come prepared to hike with adequate hiking shoes or sneakers, bug spray, and water. Please register by calling the Chester County 4-H Office at 610-696-3500 or by emailing chesterext@psu.edu by June 14th.
