CENTENNIAL, Colo. — On March 22, Colorado Farm Bureau and other Colorado ag organizations celebrated Ag Day at the capitol with the Farm to Fork Culinary Competition and the annual District 1, 2 & 6 Legislative Steak Fry.
“Colorado agriculture plays an essential role in the Colorado economy,” said Don Shawcroft, President of Colorado Farm Bureau.“Today we celebrate the success of our industry and acknowledge the value agriculture provides in our daily lives.”
The celebration at the capitol began with the Farm to Fork Culinary Competition where chefs cooked and prepared Colorado products for legislators and the general public. Colorado Farm Bureau represented Colorado beef.
CFB’s Executive Vice President Chad Vorthmann was paired with Commissioner of Agriculture Don Brown, Chefs Jason K. Morse, Aaron Orebaugh and LaNette Kautz, as well as student Ravyn Schneider. Chef Morse helped form 5280 Culinary, LLC, which consults and provides support for local hospitality businesses and K12 schools.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity to work with Commissioner Brown and all the chefs to share in their passion for agriculture. We enjoyed preparing Colorado beef and showcasing the best our state has to offer,” said Shawcroft.
