GREENWOOD, Del. — King Crop Insurance, Inc. and Allen Chorman & Son, Inc rolled out the red carpet to co-host a “Celebration of Agriculture” for 1,500 farmers and agribusiness partners on Delmarva. The celebration was held at the Chorman Airport in Greenwood, Del., on Nov. 4.
The event also celebrated King Crop Insurance’s 50th year in business, as well as 50 years of ag flying for Allen Chorman and 20 years as an ag pilot for Jeff Chorman. The evening was highlighted with a display of ag, mosquito control and recreational aircraft in additional to Allen’s antique tractor collection. Entertainment throughout the night included a blue grass band, “No Time to Spare, photo booth for fun, a grand fireworks display and ended with the local country rock band, “Bo Dickerson Band.”
Local youth ag organizations were invited to help with the event. The Delaware Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers were guest bartenders for the night. 4-H and FFA members from Maryland and Delaware were on hand to assist with parking, greeting guests, clearing tables, etc. Donation jars were placed throughout the hangers and guests graciously donated over $3,000 for our YF&R, 4-H and FFA organizations. Guests also donated two pallets of non-perishable food items to the Delaware Food Bank
Special guests included were Delaware’s Gov. John Carney, Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long, U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt-Rochester, Maryland Secretary of Ag Joe Bartenfelder, Delaware Deputy Secretary of Ag Kenny Bounds, Delaware Farm Bureau President Kitty Holtz and Maryland Farm Bureau Executive Director Valerie Connelly.
