OKEMOS, Mich. — Kick off June Dairy month by celebrating World Milk Day on June 1st. To celebrate, “raise a glass” of milk to the dairy farmers devoted to making the milk and to the consumers devoted to enjoying delicious dairy foods.
On World Milk Day, everyone is encouraged to “raise a glass” to celebrate milk and the many contributions of the dairy industry. Farmers and others throughout the dairy community are encouraged to share photos and stories about how they and their families are devoted to dairy farming, the industry and making wholesome, nutritious foods for everyone to enjoy. If you share a story or photo about your devotion to milk, tag a friend or another farm Facebook page, and ask them to raise a glass of milk and pass it on. Don’t forget to include #WorldMilkDay, #MilkMeansMore and #UndeniablyDairy with your social media posts.
The first World Milk Day was established in 2001 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to celebrate the important contributions of the dairy industry to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and nutrition. The day focuses on recognizing milk as a global food, with the dairy industry supporting up to one billion people worldwide. (Source: www.worldmilkday.org)
