KEENE, N.H. — Co-produced by Monadnock Food Co-op and Monadnock Farm and Community Coalition (MFCC), the Monadnock Farm Tour celebrates local food and farms on Saturday, August 20, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Ten local farms will open their barns, pastures, hoop houses, flower gardens, and a pudding plant to foster a better understanding of farmers’ day-to-day lives — working to bring local food to the region.
The tour includes border collies herding sheep, farm crafts for children, free samples of grilled lamb, visits with llamas, miniature and draft horses, goats, or sheep that eat animal crackers, and more. Tickets for the Farm Tour are $10/car or $5/per person and can be purchased at each farm during farm tour hours. The 2022 Monadnock Farm Tour brochure can be downloaded at https://
“Celebrating the impact local farms have on our local economies, health, and preservation of open spaces is what this one afternoon event is all about,” says Roe-Ann Tasoulas, director of MFCC. “Take your kids out for some fresh air, enjoy a Frosty Fruit Pop, cut some sunflowers, or learn how vegetables are grown — take advantage of the bounty that surrounds us!”, she continues.
The goal of the Monadnock Farm Tour is to provide rich experiences that are educational and fun for consumers while infusing much-needed income into the pockets of local farmers.
“The Monadnock Farm Tour is such a special event. It provides an important opportunity for our community to engage with the people who grow and make their food! We encourage our community to visit as many of the farms on this tour that you can!” says Megan Lafaso Hercher, Outreach Coordinator at the Monadnock Food Co-op.”
