MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — March 25, 2020, will mark the annual Massachusetts Agricultural Day on Beacon Hill. This celebration of local food and farm products will be hosted by the Massachusetts Agricultural Promotion Board and gives farmers a forum during which they can speak directly to legislators about their concerns. Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) is proud to work with many partner organizations to co-host this day.
“Ag Day is our opportunity to host productive discussions with legislators over a slice of apple pie,” said MFBF President Mark Amato. “During this time, legislators sample our bounty and are reminded of the challenges we face to produce the yearly harvest. In doing so, we are able to create lasting connections with our local legislators.”
During the event, Amato will speak to topics and issues that MFBF members have deemed a priority through the organization’s grassroots policy development process. Some examples of these concerns include science-based pesticide decision making, labor, hemp regulations and more.
“I want to say Thank You to all the groups and farmers that work together to co-host Ag Day,” Amato said. “When we all work together, we can achieve positive outcomes to our challenging issues.”
