GREELEY, Colo. — During its meetings this month, the Colorado Corn Growers Association’s Public Policy Committee voted to put its support behind a pair of state bills, with those being:
Senate Bill 17-036, “Appellate Process Concerning Groundwater Decisions”
This bill would limit the evidence that a district court may consider — when reviewing decisions or actions of the Colorado Groundwater Commission or the Colorado State Engineer on appeals regarding groundwater — to the evidence presented to the commission or the state engineer.
House Bill 17-1061, “Modify Definition Of Commercial Vehicle”
This bill would increase the minimum weight for classification as a “commercial vehicle” — which are subject to statutory and regulatory standards for commercial vehicles — from 10,001 pounds to 16,001 pounds, unless the vehicle is registered for use in interstate commerce.
While these are the first two bills on which the CCGA Public Policy Committee has taken a position, the committee is also monitoring a number of other bills as the 2017 Colorado Legislative Session continues.
