QUEENS, N.Y. — Marty Broccoli and Myron Thurston from CCE Oneida County were able to help ensure that many families were able to enhance their Thanksgiving celebration by participating in a food distribution event in Queens, NY in partnership with the LA Jornada Food Pantry.
A company had committed to donating 5,000 turkeys for the event but were unable to pull off the donation and backed out on November 15th. The event coordinators and members of the NYS Assembly reached out to Marty and Myron for help, and they got to work! They were able to source and have 5,000 chickens delivered to Queens by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20th which were donated to families in need that very same day!   This was all thanks to Mosner Family Brands stepping up to help a community in need.
In all, more than 30,000 people received a cart full of food, a winter coat, and access to COVID vaccine and flu shots. Following the food distribution, Myron and Marty were on hand for the signing of the permanent extension of Nourish NY by the Governor.
