JEFFERSON CO., N.Y. — Do you have a child heading to college next year? Have you completed the FAFSA? The FAFSA process can make adults and students feel overwhelmed but don’t distress because there is help available! Rochelle Runge, College Financial Readiness Educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County (CCE), is offering FREE FAFSA assistance.
“Through the Fort DRUM RISE grant we are able to offer one-on-one support and actually walk students and parents through the FAFSA process for free,” said Rochelle Runge. “We are also very fortunate to partner with Northern Credit Union who has invited us to set up at several of their branch offices in October and November to offer FAFSA information to anyone in the community looking for help.”
“Rochelle will be available on a walk-in basis to answer questions about the FAFSA process, offer resources on scholarships, and saving for college. You can also schedule a one-on-one appointment to fill out the FAFSA with her assistance,” said Alexa Bennett, AVP of Marketing for Northern Credit Union.
Making it a priority to fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible is important because some schools give out aid on a first come first serve basis, so filing early may mean you get more money for college. More than 185 billion dollars in student aid is available, don’t miss out by not completing the FAFSA. You don’t need to have your 2017 taxes done in order to complete the FAFSA as it uses your 2016 tax information. Stop by a Northern Credit Union branch listed below or reserve your FREE appointment today. Walk-ins are also welcome.
