ACRA, N.Y. — CCE invites everyone to the Maple Fest on Saturday, March 21 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Agroforestry Resource Center, 6055 Route 23, Acra, NY. Experience a taste of the “sweet world of maple sugaring” as part of the New York Maple weekend. This free event will have demonstrations about maple sugaring and products, local food, pancakes for purchase, music, family friendly activities and more!
Visit a sugar shack in action with teachings from our Maple Expert. Experience the taste of maple sap straight from the tree. Visit with CCE’s Master Gardener Volunteers for a pancake breakfast with local maple syrup and ask all your gardening questions. Stop by the mushroom and ginseng tent for a hands-on demonstration to learn about growing your own. Our 4-H educator will have a full table of animal bones and pelts for kids along with other games! Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District will have their kid-friendly watershed table to show how the whole system works to make maple possible. In between, visit the Taste NY tables for local food options and gifts, and of course, maple syrup!
Connor Young, Natural Resources Team Leader, says “Maple Fest is all about experiencing our woods and enjoying the best parts of it. Between the new activities, educational demonstrations and local food, this is our most ambitious Maple Fest yet. We have a lot of ideas to share that people can take home and try on their own. Mostly, we’re hoping everyone has a great time.”
