CCE Chautauqua's 4-H program offering Tractor & Farm Machinery Safety Course

PUBLISHED ON March 3, 2019

Registration and payment are due to the 4-H Office by Friday, March 22, 2019.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s 4-H Youth Development Program invites youth age 14 and older to participate in a three day tractor and farm machinery safety course April 22, 24, and 27, 2019. It is important for all youth who operate tractors and farm machinery take this course regardless of their experience. Many youth graduate the class and admit that they thought they knew it all but learned some new, interesting, and more importantly life-saving information regarding tractor and farm machinery operation.

The course features 24 hours of instruction that includes in-class instruction, homework, and a hands-on driving portion. The class is led by Denny Wright, retired BOCES instructor. The class is held at the Frank Bratt Ag Center located at 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown on April 22nd and 24th from 10:00am-3:00pm. Youth are asked to bring a lunch each day. The driving portion takes place at the student’s choice of LandPro in Clymer or Larry Romance and Son in Sheridan on Saturday, April 27th. Upon completion of the course youth will receive a certification that can be added to their resume. The cost of the class is $30.00 per participant. Youth do not have to be current 4-Hers to participate.

For more information and to register visit cce.cornell.edu/Chautauqua or call the 4-H Office at 716-664-9502 ext. 214. Registration and payment are due to the 4-H Office by Friday, March 22, 2019.
