DES MOINES, Iowa — The Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters at the Iowa State Fair announces a new menu item for 2018 – Brisket Mango Tango.
“We’re excited to introduce a new beef item to our menu,” says John Mortimer, manager of Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters. “We are always looking for new ways to expand our menu in order to meet the needs of our customers.”
The Brisket Mango Tango features a tasty waffle bowl partially filled with a light, mouthwatering coleslaw seasoned with Gramma Amber’s salad dressing. Then a generous layer of tender shredded beef brisket topped with colorful fresh mango salsa, and a splash of Gramma Amber’s dressing over the top. It is garnished with a fresh pineapple and a cornichon pickle for zest, held together with an Iowa flag.
“The mango salsa adds a refreshing, summer twist to the tender shredded brisket,” says Brooke German, Director of Marketing for the Iowa Beef Industry Council. “The brisket is smoked and full of flavor which really compliments the mango salsa.”
Inspiration for this new menu item came from beefitswhatsfordinner.com. Moritmer was looking for a way to add a new, unique item to his menu that featured beef brisket. The waffle bowl brings the flavors together and makes this item easy to carry and eat on the go.
Mortimer adds, “We will be excited to hear what our customers think of this new menu item.”
The Brisket Mango Tango will be available for $9.00 daily from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. The 2018 Iowa State Fair runs from August 9 – 19 in Des Moines.
The Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters, a beef advocate, boasts an exclusively all beef menu including prime rib dinners, roast beef sandwiches, ribeye steak sandwiches, taco salads, one-third pound hamburgers and is the home of the original Hot Beef Sundae.
