Cattle inventory in the Northwest Region up 1 percent from last year

Alaska and Idaho inventory up, Oregon unchanged, Washington down compared to last year

OLYMPIA, Wash. — January 1, 2022, all cattle inventory in Alaska, was estimated at 18,000 head, up 6 percent from 2021. All cattle inventory in Idaho, was estimated at 2.55 million head, up 2 percent from 2021. Inventory of all cattle in Oregon was 1.25 million head, unchanged from last year. In Washington, all cattle inventory totaled 1.13 million head, down 1 percent from January 1, 2021.

Nationally, January 1 all cattle inventory was estimated at 91.9 million head. This was down 2 percent from January 1, 2021. The 2021 calf crop, at the US level, was estimated at 35.1 million head, down 1 percent from 2020.
