GREENSBORO, N.C.–Saturday, August 11th, Guilford County Cooperative Extension will host one leg of the Carolina Farm Credit Livestock Show series. Last year, 143 animals including beef cattle, sheep, and goats participated in the show. A total of 82 4-H and FFA participants exhibiting from across the Piedmont representing Guilford, Rockingham, Randolph, Alamance, Caswell, Stokes, Chatham, Davidson, Anson, Moore, Stanley, Hoke and Johnson counties.
Participants will compete in Showmanship classes where they are judged on their performance in presenting their animal to the judge. They will also compete in type classes where the animals are judged on conformation and fitness. The youth are responsible for feeding, training, and preparing their animals for the show. Many of these same youth and animals will go on to compete at area fairs and the North Carolina State Fair in October.
