MARIANNA, Fla. — A quick reminder that if you are interested in learning about carinata production for this winter, call the Jackson County office and pre-register to join us for coffee and donuts from 8-10:00 AM CDT, on Wednesday, October 12th. Please call the Extension Office (850-482-9620) and pre-register by October 10th so that we can get an accurate head count to purchase the donuts and coffee.
This is a good opportunity to try a few acres and get experience with the production and advanced genetics of this crop. The harvest of this crop could be timed with planting some of the later planted fields on the farm or fields that have more flexibility in their summer planting. Depending on your rotation, it would fit well with late planted peanut acres (June), later planted dryland corn, or full season beans.
Nuseed is contracting with crop consultants in the region with experience in carinata production for this coming growing season to help with crop management.
Things that will be discussed at the October 12 meeting:
