CHARLOTTE, Mich. — The Michigan Arbor Day Alliance (MADA) is happy to announce the annual Fifth Grade Poster Contest! This 2020-2021 school year, Michigan fifth grade students are invited to use their best drawing, coloring, and painting skills, along with their imaginations and creativity to submit posters demonstrating the theme: Trees for our Health.
Students are encouraged to use their imaginations to create original posters featuring the theme. First-, second-, and third-place winners will be chosen by popular vote. Prizes will include a gift certificate for the winning student, a tree planting for the school or community, and a gift card for the participating teacher to help purchase classroom supplies. The first-place winner also will be recognized at our 2021 Virtual Arbor Day celebration.
Trees are great teaching tools. Teachers can include this contest in a lesson plan by talking about the many ways trees benefit human health. Research shows that trees improve our mental health by reducing stress and anxiety. Trees also filter the air we breathe. Educators can find helpful information on this subject under “helpful resources” on our website at https://www.miarbordayalliance
All entries must be received by mail by March 3, 2021. See the contest rules and download an Entry Form at http://www.miarbordayalliance.
