BURLINGTON, Vt. — Researchers, educators, agritourism providers, farmers and others involved in direct sales and agritourism are invited to submit proposals for oral presentations, workshops and posters for the International Workshop on Agritourism to be held next October in Burlington. The deadline to submit is Jan. 31.
Proposals for the Oct. 27-29 conference may focus on any aspect of agritourism of interest to an international audience including research, programs, best practices, success stories and challenges, among other areas. Sessions should provide participants with the latest research, resources, tools or skills to take back to their farms, organizations and educational institutions.
To submit a proposal, go to www.agritourismworkshop.com/cfp. Individuals may submit more than one proposal and may choose to present both an oral presentation and a poster on the same topic.
For questions about the submission process, contact Leslie Dorworth at email@example.com. Presenters will be notified of acceptance by the end of March.
Oral presentations will run 20 minutes with 15 minutes for the presentation and five minutes for questions. Workshops are 60 minutes and must include an interactive component that provides hands-on experiential opportunities for professional development.
Posters will be on display throughout the conference with a dedicated poster session on opening night for presenters to share their work. Awards will be presented to the best posters based on specific criteria.
Between 250 and 350 participants from throughout the world are expected to attend the conference, which is co-sponsored by University of Vermont Extension and Eurac Research, a private research center in Bolzano, Italy. It will be held at the Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain Hotel.
In addition to the presentations, posters and workshops, the conference will feature networking events, a farm-to-table dinner and field trips to farms, vineyards and other agritourism sites. Pre- and post-conference educational tours will be offered to agritourism destinations in Vermont, neighboring states and Canada to showcase some of the best agritourism in the region.
