DENVER — On Sunday, December 3 Western Dairy Association’s Fuel Up to Play 60 Player Ambassador, Virgil Green took the field for the Broncos’ week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins wearing a special pair of shoes – his custom Fuel Up to Play 60 cleats, as part of the NFL’s second annual My Cause My Cleats campaign. Similar to the inaugural campaign in 2017, players from across the NFL worked with cleat designers to create custom kicks that would bring awareness to their favorite causes or charities. For Green’s cleat design, Western Dairy Association helped him bring in a special design consultant – 4th grader Travis R.
Along with his Fuel Up to Play 60 teammates, Travis, a student at Stetson Elementary in Colorado Springs, attended the Fuel Up to Play 60 Touchdown Recognition Event held in October at Sports Authority Field at Mile High , where one of the day’s activities was to create a custom cleat design for Green. Over 150 students submitted their designs, giving Green and his professional cleat designer several ideas, but in the end Green was inspired by Travis’ design.
As part of the lead up to the My Cause My Cleats game, a Miles Assembly was held at Stetson Elementary on November 29 to unveil the final design and Travis received recognition of his efforts. Green even made a virtual appearance to congratulate Travis on his design. As the day closed Travis was interviewed by a local NBC affiliate about his design and experience with Fuel Up to Play 60.
Our partnership with Green n Fuel Up to Play 60 cleats was a great opportunity to spotlight our dairy farmers’ commitment to improving childhood health and wellness through their support of the program.
