URBANA, Ill. — Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to 4-H members in memory of Brittany Koch. These two individuals should be commended for their academic and personal achievements and experiences in 4-H, school, places of employment, volunteer groups, community service activities, and committees. The 2018 recipients are Alanna Pals of Freeport and Leah Kuper of Shannon.
Pals is a 2018 graduate of Dakota High School and the daughter of Steve and Ann Pals. She is a 10-year member of the Freeport Fantastics 4-H Club and plans to attend Luther College to major in English and minor in Journalism and Music. Alanna said, “4-H has taught me to work towards the goals you’ve set for yourself”. Her favorite activity was showing her dog, Apollo, at State competition.
Kuper is a 2018 graduate of Eastland High School and plans to attend Highland Community College majoring in Communications and Public Relations. She is the daughter of Dean & Lisa Kuper. Leah is also a 10 year 4-H member and says, “I want to stay involved by continuing to spread the word about how awesome 4-H is and possibly be the Cloverbud leader in the future. 4-H has taught me how to talk to others and meet new people”.
