JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — On behalf of Governor Greitens, Director Chinn has proclaimed October as Pork Month in Missouri.
Throughout the month, we will call special attention to a segment of Missouri agriculture that consistently ranks in the top ten nationally. In fact, the latest USDA report indicates Missouri surpassed Nebraska in the rankings; we are now the sixth largest pork producing state.
Missouri hog farmers, through continued advancements in technology, raised more than 3 million pigs last year for customers locally and globally.
We greatly appreciate the men and women who are in the pork business and raise their animals in a responsible, respectful manner while providing delicious pork for our families.
