HANCOCK/HARDIN COUNTIES, Ohio — Join the Blanchard River Demonstration Farms Network Spring Bus Tour and get an up-close-and-personal experience with three local farms and farmers involved with implementing new and established conservation practices in the Blanchard River Watershed. The tour is Friday, April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Hancock and Hardin counties.
The demonstration farms are part of a five-year, $1 million partnership between USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. The event is free and open to the general public but registration is required.
Buses will be placed at a central location pick up and participants will be taken around to all three farms to hear from industry experts and the farmers themselves. Conservation practices on premises will include: cover crops, Edge of Field monitoring, manure management, sub-surface nutrient placement, wetland, pollinator habitats, drainage water management structures and many more.
