SILVER SPRINGS, N.Y. — The New York Corn and Soybean Growers Association is pleased to announce that Jessica Engel and Kelsey Lafave are the recipients of the 2020 Bill Jenkins Growing the Next Generation Scholarships.
Jessica is attending Black Hawk College to major in Agricultural Business. She has been a prominent member of the Erie County 4-H program and was noted to have excelled in leadership in both 4-H and the Springville FFA Chapter. Jessica has numerous achievements in the livestock arena showing lambs, goats, hogs and beef. She is graduating from Springville-Griffith Institute with an Advanced Regents diploma.
Kelsey is attending Cornell University to study Agriculture Communication. She is graduating from Southern Cayuga High School with numerous awards and recognition for her academic excellence. Kelsey has been a member of FFA since she was in fifth grade and most recently was elected as District 7 President. She is noted to be dedicated, compassionate and reliable- skills that will carry her far in her career.
The Bill Jenkins Growing the Next Generation Scholarship honors the life and work of Bill Jenkins, a longtime director and founder of the Association who passed away in July of 2017. Bill provided years and years of experience, enthusiastic volunteering and comic relief to the Association. He exemplified what it means to serve and was passionate that we continue to grow and promote the industry.
The NYCSGA applauds Jessica and Kelsey for their achievements and looks forward to watching the next generation continue to grow!
